Management Team of Cinterion Wireless Modules

Norbert Muhrer
Chief Executive Officer


Serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens’ Wireless Modules division since 2006, Norbert Muhrer achieved much in the two years of his leadership. In this time, Wireless Modules’ market share grew steadily and the division won the biggest contracts in its history. 

With more than 20 years industry experience, Mr. Muhrer has held management positions across the globe. Prior to joining the Wireless Modules division, he was President and CEO of Siemens Communication Networks in Beijing. Mr. Muhrer had gained rich management experience before taking up the assignment in China, serving Siemens in the United States, Thailand, and Germany.
 
After earning a Master’s degree at the Technical College of Electronics and Communications in Salzburg, Austria in 1985, Mr. Muhrer launched his career at Siemens Public Communication Networks.

Baran_Marian

Marian Baran
Chief Technology Officer

Before taking up the position of Cinterion Wireless Modules’ Chief Technology Officer, Marian Baran was Vice President Wireless Modules and headed Research & Development at Siemens Wireless Modules. After nine years with the German telecommunications company DeTeWe Berlin, where he helmed Product Development, he returned to Siemens in 1998 to head the Digital Products business unit’s R&D department. Mr. Baran launched his career at Siemens in 1985 as a development engineer and project manager, steering various projects in the Private Network business unit.
 
Mr. Baran’s alma mater is Poland’s Opole Technical University, where he also served as a research assistant. He has also gathered a wide range of professional experience working as a journalist and an engineer.

Erik Brenneis
Chief Sales Officer


Erik Brenneis is Cinterion Wireless Modules’ Chief Sales Officer. He had previously held the position of Vice President Sales at Siemens Wireless Modules, where from 2005 he was tasked with responsibility for global sales. Mr. Brenneis occupied the same position at Landis+Gyr AG in Zug, Switzerland, from 2001 to 2005. Before that, his career trajectory saw him serving Siemens in various job positions, gain professional experience in Germany and the U.S.A.
 
Mr. Brenneis holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Andreas Niemann
Chief Financial Officer


Before joining Cinterion Wireless Modules in 2008, Chief Financial Officer Andreas Niemann was Director of Nokia Siemens Networks Ltd. in Thailand and Head of Finance and Controlling for the region encompassing Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Korea.
 
As Senior Vice President at Siemens Ltd. in Thailand from 2004 and 2007, Mr. Niemann headed the Commercial Management Communications Division in Bangkok. In the preceding years, he had served Siemens Wireless Modules as Head of Business Administration Product Management and Services, and held various sales positions at Siemens.
 
Andreas Niemann earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Mannheim University of Cooperative Education.

Lars Thyroff
Chief Marketing Officer


Cinterion Wireless Modules’ Chief Marketing Officer Lars Thyroff heads the Corporate Development department and steers the overall business strategy. Other duties include managing the portfolio, products, operators, and marketing. Mr. Thyroff’s previous posting had been Vice President of Product and Portfolio Management at Siemens Wireless Modules.
 
Before joining the management of Siemens Wireless Modules in 2003, Mr. Thyroff was General Manager of Siemens Mobile’s global procurement organization in Japan and Korea. He served Siemens for more than ten years, holding various international management positions at Siemens Mobile Communications. Before that, he was Sales and Product Manager with the Arrow Group.
 
Mr. Thyroff holds a degree in Precision Engineering and Information Technology from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.




Akhan Urgun
Chief Operations Officer

Chief Operations Officer Akhan Urgun is responsible for Cinterion Wireless Modules’ Supply Chain Management and Procurement. Prior to taking up this position, Mr. Urgun was Vice President of Global Procurement of Production Material at Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices in Bocholt, Germany.
 
Holding various positions in Siemens Procurement departments from 1996 to 2004, Mr. Urgun Initially served the Private Networks division, and later Siemens ICM. When ICM and ICN merged to form the Communications (Com) division in 2004, Mr. Urgun became Director of Local Procurement for two Siemens locations at Bocholt and Kamp-Lintfort.
 
Mr. Urgun completed an Industrial Business Manager training program at Siemens, where he also earned European Merchant qualifications.



Doris Wieder
Vice President Human Resources

Vice President of Human Resources Doris Wieder joined Siemens Wireless Modules in 2008. From 2000 to 2007, she had held various top personnel management positions at the E.ON Group. From 2003 to 2007, Ms. Wieder served the Group enterprise Degussa Initiators, a fully owned subsidiary of Degussa AG, in Munich, Germany, as Head of HR. Prior to that, she was a HR manager at the Degussa site in Trostberg.
 
From 2000 to 2003, Ms. Wieder headed Human Resources at the construction company Viterra Baupartner AG in Bochum, where she managed recruiting, employee development, and administration. Before joining Viterra, she was based in Moscow for three years as a Commercial Manager at Zeiss-Schott.
 
Ms. Wieder earned a Law degree from the University of Passau, Germany, in 1994, and then worked as a junior lawyer in Bavaria and Sydney, Australia.

Jörg Erdmann
Vice President Quality Management

Prior to taking up the position of Cinterion Wireless Modules’ Vice President Quality Management, Jörg Erdmann headed Quality Management and Services at Siemens Wireless Modules. Before that, he helmed the Technical Planning Group at Siemens Medical Solutions. Mr. Erdmann joined Siemens in 1995 when he signed on with Siemens Electromechanical Components as a development engineer for micro machining. Earlier he had served Biotronik, a German electronic engineering firm, as a quality engineer and Inkjet Systems as a development engineer.
 
Mr. Erdmann holds a degree in micro mechanical engineering from the Technical University Berlin.
