Cinterion Wireless Modules launches in the US

Cinterion Wireless Modules, the new company that emerged from Siemens Wireless Modules, officially launched today in the United Stated completing its worldwide transition to the new entity. Led by the T-Mobile Venture Fund and private equity firm Granville Baird, the highly successful Siemens division, which specializes in producing wireless communications modules for use in the M2M (machine-to-machine) sector, was taken over beginning June 1, 2008 as part of a leveraged buyout. According to a Gartner survey of June 2008, Cinterion Wireless Modules holds a 34 percent share of the market, which makes it the clear world leader in its field.
Supported by industry-experienced owners such as the T-Mobile Venture Fund and the full existing management from Siemens Wireless Modules, Cinterion Wireless Modules is poised to continue its successful growth based on its well-known differentiators of innovation, high quality, reliability, and direct global customer touch. A recent rating by Dun & Bradstreet earned Cinterion an impressive 95 points out of a 100 points maximum with typical industry
averaging at 66 points – outside proof of the young and high performing unit.

“The new company roll out and name change is now complete giving us the best of both worlds – our same stellar staff, R&D and superior products plus new streamlined operations and the ability to respond faster to market conditions,” said Norbert Muhrer, CEO, Cinterion Wireless Modules. “With our new company, we’re able to better serve our customers with a singular focus on M2M wireless modules and a continued commitment to bring smart M2M solutions to the global marketplace that help improve enterprise productivity, efficiency and
profitability. I am happy that our US force is now also on board.”

“We’ve had an explosive first month of business exceeding all of our goals,” said Peter Fowler, vice president and general manager, Cinterion Wireless Modules, North American region. “In the last 10 months, the North American Cinterion/Siemens Wireless Modules team, has grown its business more than 40 percent. This clearly demonstrates our ability to continue our market leadership and expand the M2M landscape worldwide.”

Cinterion Wireless Modules will expand its current leading position in the M2M market even further. The enterprise will be focusing further on new vertical and regional markets, on launching new technologies in the 3.5G and 4G arena, and on intensifying its solutions business, known as M2M One.
