Award-Winning Cinterion Evolution Modules Provide Wireless Communication for Healthcare and Fleet Management Applications Cinterion Wireless Modules, the leading global manufacturer of cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) modules, today announced it was honored in two prestigious Value Chain Awards for powering wireless GSM-based communications for
Philips Respironics System One sleep therapy solution and for
Zonar Systems fleet management solution implemented by
Goodfellow Bros., Inc. Along with end users, the entire team of technology enablers, including Cinterion, AT&T, Jasper Wireless and Zonar, was recognized for innovative M2M solutions that improved business processes and productivity.
The Philips Respironics System One sleep therapy solution integrates Cinterion’s
TC65i module to enable real-time, always on communication. For the first time, System One marries mobility and reliable two-way wireless communications with significant advancements in sleep apnea therapy to help millions of patients and their healthcare providers meet rigorous new reporting standards. Zonar System’s Fleet Management solution for Goodfellow Bros. integrates Cinterion’s
TC63i module and enables the remote tracking, tracing, inspection and management of a large fleet of geographically dispersed trucks and construction equipment.
“In an increasingly competitive business environment, M2M technology can be a make or break addition to an enterprise,” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director and publisher of Connected World. “Philips Respironics and Goodfellow Bros. were selected winners for this year’s Value Chain Awards because they implemented some of the smartest M2M solutions that are cost effective, quick to provide ROI and improve efficiency in their fields. M2M innovation combined with wireless network evolution has finally reached the tipping point for explosive growth in the machine-to-machine marketplace. These winning solutions demonstrate how teams such as Cinterion, Zonar Systems, Jasper Wireless and AT&T are working collaboratively to enable creative solutions that solve real business challenges and drive M2M adoption.”
“Time and time again, GSM-based M2M technology and Cinterion’s strong portfolio of innovative modules, have proven a smart investment for businesses across a growing spectrum of industries including automotive, health care and environmental services,” said Peter Fowler, regional president, Cinterion Americas. “We’re proud to be recognized once again along with our customers with Value Chain awards that demonstrate our commitment to working collaboratively to develop innovative M2M applications.”
Sleep apnea is a potentially life threatening condition that occurs when a person repeatedly stops breathing during sleep. Philips Respironics System One provides treatment by delivering a specific flow of pressurized air through a mask to keep the airway open. System One uses Cinterion’s award-winning TC65i module to enable two-way, anywhere wireless communication between the patient’s device and doctor. The Cinterion module sends sophisticated patient breathing data from the device to a secure EncoreAnywhere™ Web-based platform. Physicians log on to EncoreAnywhere to obtain timely, detailed breathing reports and respond with prescription air pressure changes sent over-the-air to the device providing timely patient intervention for improved disease management. Cinterion’s TC65i module provides on-board memory to store reports that detail every breath a patient takes for up to five days.
Goodfellow Bros., Inc. is a large construction contracting company with a fleet of trucks and heavy equipment across three states, including Hawaii. The company’s firm commitment to safety was a major motivator for implementing the Zonar fleet management system. The Zonar solution uses Cinterion’s TC63i module for real-time, anywhere wireless communication, which allows Goodfellow management to remotely track engine hours, trace vehicle location, fulfill required pre- and post-trip safety inspections, and check fluid levels and other vehicle and equipment information. The system automatically schedules maintenance and repairs when pre-defined limits are reached and it calls for immediate service in the case of a problem or emergency, often before the operator is even aware of the issue. The system saved more than $56,000 in the first year by reducing idle time alone and has also helped recover stolen vehicles and saved countless hours by automating communication between Goodfellow’s equipment and the people responsible for ensuring its operational effectiveness.
Value Chain Awards honor the most successful adopters of M2M technology along with the team of solution suppliers and providers that made their success possible. The awards highlight the process of combining multiple technologies – including device connectivity hardware, radio modules, network services and application software – and showcase how all elements of the M2M value chain work together to create winning solutions for customers. Cinterion was awarded as an “enabling technology partner” for their work with Philips Respironics and Goodfellow Bros.
